Software Blog > Which is better: Hardware or Software?
I am typing this article using Microsoft WinWord, running on Microsoft XP professional Operating System installed on Dell Latitude D610 laptop with Intel Pentium M 1.86 GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and 60 GB of HDD. While typing it am using HP keyboard that consumes only 5 VDC voltage and am seeing the screen of 32 Bits 1280 * 1024 pixels resolution. Ah. Yes while typing “resolution” document editor warned me of spelling mistake. I right clicked my “Microsoft Intellimouse” consuming 5V of power and selected right spelling. This is just a small example of advancement we have now days in hardware and software. Both domains are progressing so fast that we have new ways of entertainment, communication and maintaining our information.
We have amazing revolution (fingers cross), that has given million people new jobs and world economy. Every second human ( I am guessing) is dependent on hardware and software today.. But question is which one is superior to other? Is it Hardware, because of which we have got multiple purpose digital cameras, 3g mobiles, fully automated cars… Or its Software, which gives us power to play entertaining video games, new ways to watch movies, runs our mobiles and all things where we use hardware. I think both hardware and software are parts of one contract with share of 50-50. If hardware technology had gone so advanced that we can store 4 GB of data in a thumb nail size memory stick, so the software because of which we can view pod casts directly from a web page with best sounds quality.
