With the dominance of Web2.0 services like MySpace, Youtube, and Slideshare, Adobe Flash has gone from being only for mere entertainment purposes to a highly functional tool for creating alternative, intuitive, and user-friendly online web services and applications.

It was much debated in industry circles that Microsoft would probably buy Macromedia but Adobe played hard and outbid it resulting in once the formidable allies to be at loggerheads with each other. Now the news is OUT! Microsoft officially released its own flash-like format called Microsoft Silverlight. The new tool is rumored to have better browser support in IE and much better memory management. This makes Web 2.0 a whole lot more interesting and we could see Microsoft foraying into more and more Rich Internet Applications and live.com is the place too look for!
